Training room furniture: plan the reset as carefully as the layout

Flip-top tables and nesting chairs are only part of a flexible room. Plan where furniture goes, how it moves and who reconnects the room before approving the order.

Define the room between events

A training room may look straightforward in its presentation layout and become much harder to manage when the next booking calls for small-group work or an open floor. A useful furniture brief should describe both the occupied room and the changeover. Where will unused pieces go? Who will move them? What needs to be ready when the next group arrives?

This is original planning guidance informed by Clear Design’s product resources, reviewed November 1, 2026. It is not a new-product announcement or a report of a room tested by Edgewater. The manufacturer describes Optima tables with flip-and-nest capability and locking casters, and Tonic as a nesting chair with casters. Those features make storage and movement worth discussing early.

Draw the storage arrangement

Ask the dealer to show the proposed stored arrangement beside each working layout. Include all tables and chairs that leave the room, plus any accessories that need a separate home. Request the manufacturer’s dimensions for the actual nested configuration and quantity; a single product’s footprint does not establish the space needed for a complete group.

Mark the route between the room and storage. Ask the facilities and design teams to review doors, turns, flooring transitions and access to other equipment. Keep required circulation and exits available in every arrangement, with the appropriate project professionals confirming the plan. Avoid treating a corridor as spare storage simply because furniture fits there.

Decide what happens to power

Clear Design lists optional power and wire-management clips for Optima. For the project, identify which proposed tables have power, where the connections originate and what must be disconnected before furniture moves. Have the responsible electrical and facilities professionals review the intended arrangement.

Our suggested approval question is practical: can the team explain the complete changeover without leaving a loose cable, a missing accessory or an unclear responsibility? Record who handles connections and where removable components are kept. Do not assume a mobile table can be repositioned while its power arrangement remains unchanged.

Include the people doing the reset

Invite the staff responsible for changeovers into the selection discussion. Ask them to review the operating instructions and, where a sample or demonstration is available, assess the proposed movement and nesting process. Record the staff and time available between bookings, then check whether the planned changeover is realistic. Do not promise a reset time from a product photograph.

Create a short handover sheet showing the approved layouts, storage position, movement sequence and contact for questions. Dealers can use it to clarify scope; designers can connect it to the room plan; end users can keep it with their booking and facilities procedures.

Confirm the package before release

Request current dimensions, finishes, quantities, operating guidance and a quotation for the selected configuration. Confirm availability, freight and installation assumptions separately. Clear Design’s product pages link to specification and support documents that can help organize this review.
