Extremis Keiseki: a personal retreat with specification questions to settle
Extremis’s current Americas listing introduces a hooded lounge chair with optional table and under-seat storage. Here is what project teams should resolve before turning that idea into an order.
What the manufacturer documents
Extremis’s Americas dealer portal currently marks Keiseki as new. The manufacturer describes a lounge chair that closes into a stone-like form and opens to reveal a cushioned seat with a protective hood. An integrated side table is optional, and storage sits beneath the seat. The listed settings include terraces, lobbies and coworking spaces.
This briefing reviews the official listing on November 3, 2026. The page does not establish a dated U.S. launch or delivery schedule. For dealers, designers and commercial end users, the useful next step is to define the intended activity and request a confirmed configuration. The planning questions below are Edgewater’s suggestions, rather than additional manufacturer performance claims.
Define the activity before choosing the location
Decide whether the proposed seat supports a short pause, occasional laptop use or informal conversation. Ask the client how long people are expected to stay and what they need within reach. That brief gives the design team a basis for judging placement and whether the optional table belongs in the package.
Show the furniture in its open and closed positions on the proposed plan. Ask for current dimensions and operating guidance, then have the project team review approach space, surrounding circulation and the relationship to adjacent furniture. Where possible, include a demonstration in the approval process so the client understands how the seat operates.
Resolve the base and table in writing
The Americas page uses different base terminology in its selection controls and descriptive text. Treat that as a question for the factory: request the exact available base, its movement characteristics and its suitability for the proposed surface. Carry the confirmed option and identifier into the quotation.
Specify whether the integrated table is included. Ask the supplier for its dimensions, operating position and applicable use guidance. If laptop work is intended, establish how the project will address charging and connectivity; the presence of a table alone does not establish a powered workstation.
Check the setting and complete the handover
For a terrace, ask the manufacturer to confirm the selected materials, care instructions and any site-specific restrictions. For an indoor setting, review the proposed arrangement with the responsible design and facilities teams. A protective hood should not be treated as evidence of acoustic isolation; request documentation if the brief includes a measurable acoustic requirement.
Before release, collect the approved configuration, required product documentation, current U.S. quotation, availability and delivery assumptions. Give facilities staff the operating and care guidance, including access to the under-seat storage. Edgewater Contract represents Extremis in Southern California and Arizona.
